PSYCHOMETRIC ASSESSMENT
A SCHOOL READINESS ASSESSMENT is often conducted in the second half of Grade R. It is a useful tool to assess the readiness of a young child to manage the demands of Grade 1 and to identify any areas of learning and development needing specific attention in Grade 1. The results can assist parents and teachers in making decisions in the best interests of the child and can inform the implementation of appropriate interventions, where necessary.
The assessment takes 3 hours and is conducted in the morning. The assessment is followed by a feedback session with the parents(s) only.
A SUBJECT CHOICE ASSESSMENT, usually conducted in Grade 9, provides an early indication of possible career path preferences and which matric subjects should be considered.
The assessment takes 2 – 3 hours and is followed by a feedback session with the learner and the parent(s).
